2011

We are excited about this short film and can’t wait to share it with everyone. It is the official word that the film will be released October 25th. This leaves us just a couple short weeks to finish up all of the Bonus Features, create the DVD, and send it out to the duplicator to make the copies. Even though we have completed post-production, we still need your prayers that these last couple weeks before release date will go as smoothly as possible. We will be posting some more updates very soon.

Most of you have been keeping up with our latest film “The Forgotten Martyr: Lady Jane Grey.” It is currently in post-production stages. God has greatly blessed us in this film, and we give him all of the credit for what is taking place. An update from the editor, Joe Henline, describing how close the film is to completion is coming soon! One of the biggest questions is ”Have you chosen what film to do next?” At this point, we will not be making any announcements. But we can say that we’ve been brainstorming and discussing our next project. Your prayers would be much appreciated as we wrap up post-production on “The Forgotten Martyr: Lady Jane Grey” and seek the Lord’s will for what he wants us to do next.

     One of the very first courses was taught by Kirk Cameron, actor in Fireproof. His testimony was amazing and his thoughts and lessons were very encouraging. Later on the same day we heard from Stephen Kendrick. His session is where I believe we learned the most from. He went over steps for directing, acting, editing ect. that sounded so simple but yet are commonly missed by many filmmakers. And to add some sprinkles on top of the already exciting day, he ended off with showing us several scenes from the movie Courageous. Clips that no one else had seen and that probably no one else will see until its release to theaters date. Courageous is going to be awesome!  The rest of the of the Academy was mainly filled with Doug Phillip’s and Geoff Botkin’s amazing classes. There were about 8 sessions a day, over an hour each, and I don’t think there was one that we didn’t learn a list of things from.

     One of the greatest experiences of the whole Academy though, was simply the fellowship with other filmmakers. Spending time with our Ace Wonder friends was very refreshing and to put it bluntly was nothing short of a BLAST! But what was even more exciting than that was meeting new people, acquiring new contacts and creating new friendships.

     Like I said, the summary of the Academy can’t easily be put into words. But I hope this post has given you at least a tiny little taste of what we experienced during the Christian Filmmakers Academy. We already have the next one on our schedule and are eagerly waiting for it to come.

The Story

     Filmweavers have produced several productions over the years, but by far, “The Penny” is their biggest ambition yet. This film, in our opinion, is one of the best Independent Christian films that still has a Hollywood feel and quality to it. For this reason, Penny took away the “Best Feature Film” award from the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. ”We are both honored and humbled to have won this award,” Nathan exclaims as he speaks to the festival audience. “The SAICFF has been a great encouragement to us and a wonderful place to network with other talented filmmakers who share our beliefs. Our prayer is that this will be a springboard to reach many more audiences.” We really enjoyed The Penny and know you will to!

         Hedrick Brothers Productions have released the trailer for their latest documentary “College Revolutionized.” It will give you a better taste of what they have been working on. This documentary looks amazing! As personal friends we are very excited about what the Lord is doing through them and how He will use them in the future.
